Caitlin at The Glasgow Art Club

17/06/2015

Stylish Bride alert!

Back at the end of March, we were delighted to join a whole host of Glasgow Wedding Collective friends to work together on Caitlin’s beautiful wedding.  The Glasgow Art Club was filled with highly scented Hycinths to herald in the start of Spring, and Caitlin’s trailing bouquet was filled with Lilac, Paperwhites and the darkest plum Ranuculus you ever did see.

Caitlin’s stunning head piece was created by the amazing Rene Walrus, hair by Pin Up Hair and all the beauty was captured by Lisa Devine Photography.

Lovely stuff x

Lindsey at Crear

05/05/2015

Hello blog, it has been a while . . .

You may have seen this wedding on the beautiful Love My Dress last week, but we couldn’t resist sharing a little bit of the pretty over here too.

When the lovely Lindsey asked us to create her woodland vision at Crear, we said yes please!  This was the first time that I had been back at Crear since our own wee wedding last year, and as I turned up the drive I had a lump in my throat remembering what an amazing time we had there.  Such a beautiful, peaceful place that I will always hold very dear.

Lindsey asked us to sprinkle a little woodland magic over this gorgeous space, and the air in the room was heavy with the intoxicating scents of Spring.  Antlers laced with Broom hung from the beams alongside scented chandeliers with delicate Narcissus.  Bloody lovely.

The Bridal bouquet, packed full of David Austin roses, Narcissus and Frittilaria, had a scattering of the most delicate Forget- Me-Nots to remind Lindsey of the Machair of her childhood home on Lewis.  Oh, and we made her the most delicate of flowery crowns, with fresh flowers hand stitched onto ribbon tumbling all the way down her back.

Huge shout out to all The Glasgow Wedding Collective team mates who played a part in this gorgeous wedding, and particularly The Kitcheners, for all the stunning images.  Love you guys.

A Secret Wedding at Ardanaisieg

17/02/2015

Laura and James eloped to the beautiful Ardanaiseig at the start of the Autumn last year and I have to say, we were swept away with the romance!

Laura wore a stunning Dragonfly Dress Design and opted for a little flower hat and a lush Autumnal bouquet in gooey toffee pinks.  We recommended that Laura treat herself to a little pampering on the day itself and Jennifer Peffer from Asteria Bridal was on hand to highlight Lauras natural beauty, and finished off her 1950’s look just perfectly.

We also made a seasonal foliage and berry collar for Laura and James’s pooch!

Huge thanks go to John Stirling Photography for these lovely images.  You can see John’s full blog post on this elopement here.

MORE FLOWER HATS PLEASE.

AND MORE ELOPEMENTS.

An Elopement

03/01/2015

New Year greetings to you all flower lovers!

For many of you this year is the year that you get married, and we are beyond exited here at Myrtle & Bracken HQ for all the exiting, creative weddings that have landed on our desk.  It is also the year that we are introducing our cutting garden, bringing you some of our very own British Flowers.

But before we get digging and sowing, we thought we would share this gorgeous little elopement that happened towards the end of 2014.

If ever there was an elopement that captured the essence of romance and true love, here it is.  Jess and Jacob eloped to the beautiful Scott’s View in the Scottish Borders, overlooking the valley of the River Tweed, which is reputed to be one of the favourite views of Sir Walter Scott with nothing more than a bouquet, a buttonhole and a delicate floral crown.

Our favourite lady Caro Weiss was on hand to capture the love and we are thrilled to have been invited to play a part in this intimate wedding.

What a beautiful couple.

Orange Photographie

08/12/2014

We were thrilled when US based photographers Orange Photographie got in touch to say that they were visiting Scotland and wanted to do a little shoot.  They have been longing to capture a little piece of Scotland on film so along with our favourite hair and make up ladies Anne Marie Macelroy and Julie Diplacito, we pulled together this little inspiration shoot using a real, totally in love couple.

Samantha and Reid of Orange Photographie have captured Scotland beautifully and are hoping to visit  again very soon, and the good news is that they are looking to shoot real weddings.  So if you like their style, head on over to their gorgeous website and make an inquiry and hopefully we can tempt them over for some 2015 weddings.

Aine, The Byre at Inchyra

02/12/2014

Another blog post, another beautiful seasonal wedding at The Byre at Inchyra.

This late Autumn wedding was packed full of lush Autumnal foliage’s, berries and Rose hips.  Lots of Rose hips.

We installed a simple ceremony backdrop in the byre of lace to highlight our Rose hip curtain, suspended from a mushroom and moss covered branch.

Aine, we loved all the seasonal details of your wedding, you look absolutely beautiful!  And so pleased you had our Glasgow Wedding Collective friends Kitchener Photography to capture your day, and Lazy Sunday on catering.

Pine cones for place cards. Love it x

Hilary, The Byre at Inchyra

26/11/2014

Every now and then, something new comes along in the wedding world in Scotland, and this year it was the beautiful Byre at Inchyra.

As a florist, this really is a dream venue to dress and Caroline at Inchyra’s commitment to attention to detail not only in the fabric of the building itself, but in the positioning of lighting (heartbreakingly overlooked in the majority of venues) to the overall faultless execution of the running of events.  Her recommended suppliers list for weddings is compiled of suppliers who understand the venue and help her maintain her overall vision for this unique venue.  We are delighted to be on that list and have so many wedding’s in 2015 to look forward to.

We first visited the venue in hard hats in October 2013 on behalf of Hilary to measure up for her wedding to Stephen the following October.

Their day was brought together with a whole host of the Glasgow Wedding Collective suppliers with Alexis Miller on make-up Pin Up Hair Glasgow on hair, Scoop Events on food, Butler & Taylor china and props and the formidable Kitchener Photography behind the lens.

We installed a small wood full of trees suspended from the byre’s rafters and filled the troughs with luscious plum trees.

Winner.

Hilary, you are the most effortlessly beautiful bride, thank you so much for hunting me down!

A city centre wedding

23/10/2014 | Leave a Comment

It had been a while since we ventured into town after our move to a rural existence, and back in September Suzanne and Ben’s wedding brought us right back into the heart of Glasgow for this beautiful city centre wedding.

The day started in Blythswood Hotel, then onto Glasgow University Chapel and finished off with a roof top party at 29.  Suzanne’s classic green and white flowers were heavily scented with Wild Thyme, Tuberosa, Eucaris and fresh Hops.  The Brides Mum was asking people all day what the lovely smell was, not realising it was her corsage.

Huge thanks to Lillian and Leonard Photography for allowing us to share there images, this is such a beautifully shot wedding and you can see more over on their blog.

And stripey bridesmaids.  LOVE.

Jennifer at Sorn Castle

24/09/2014

Back in August, we made the 5 minute trip from our home down to Sorn Castle for Jennifer’s wedding.   And what a pretty wedding it turned out to be!

The air in the Castle was laden with the scent of Sweet Peas, Oregano and fresh Mint to compliment Jennifer’s bouquet of Armando roses, fresh herbs and Passion Flower.

It was a real Glasgow Wedding Collective affair with Asteria Bridal on hair and make up and the lovely Craig & Eva Sanders behind the lens, huge thanks to Craig and Eva for these beautiful images.

Don’t forget, you can catch up with all the Glasgow Wedding Collective team this Sunday at The Lighthouse, 11am-5pm for the best little wedding fair in the country.  Entry is free.

Hope to see you there! x

Gillian at Oran Mor

20/09/2014

At the end of July, we were in Glasgow’s Westend for the beautiful Gillian’s wedding.

I had so much fun creating Gillian’s loose and wild trailing bouquet which included David Austin Roses, Chocolate Cosmos and an abundance of herbs and grasses.  She wore a delicate floral headpiece of Passionflower and Princess Caroline Delphinium heads – just lovely.

This was a real Glasgow Wedding Collective affair, with Caro Weiss on photo’s, Sugar 8 on film, and Asteria Bridal on hair and make up.

How naturally beautiful it all turned out to be.

Thanks to Caro for the beautiful images, you can see more of the wedding over on her blog.
