Sarah | Lodge on Loch Goil | September

14/02/2018

Back in September, we had our first visit to The Lodge on Loch Goil and what a beautiful sunny day it turned out to be.  We did a last minute installation down on the pebbled beach and created a freestanding piece, tumbling down from a large Copper Beech as it was just too beautiful a day not to get married outside.

Our Bride Sarah, lives close to David Austin Roses so we accented all the Scottish late summer flowers with Patience, Juliet and Beartice.  For dinner, we created a rambling tablescape with a touch of wildness.  Lovely.

Thanks to one of our favourite photography duos Criag & Eva Saunders for capturing all the romance, and Asteria Bridal were also on hand to create the perfect beauty.

Kathrynn | The Byre at Inchyra | June

26/09/2017

Hello flower lovers!   How quickly has Autumn descended on us this year? It really is our favourite season for colour and texture and we are so looking forward to some really beautiful weddings over the coming months.

We are back at Inchyra in a few weeks, and whilst skteching away in front of the wood burner today and deaming up what we will be creating, our minds retuturned to the last time we were at this beautiful venue back in June.

Kathrynn opted for a light and airy seassonal colour palette of lemons, ivories and blush and we were so happy that the weather allowed her ceremony to take place in Inchyra’s beautiful walled gardens.

Always an absolute pleasure to work alongside our favourite stylists Lemonbox, and thank you so much to Lisa Devine for capurting all the beauty.

A Private Affair | Ayrshire | June

10/09/2017

Wow, it has been a whole nine months since our last blog post.  Where has the time gone?  It has been an incredible year for us here at Myrtle & Bracken for weddings across the country and we still have quite a few more to go.  But as the summer fizzles out and we whole heartidly embrace Autumn, it’s time to fire up the wood burner and start to share with you some of the botanical magic that has been sprinkled across the land.

First up, is a private celebration in a private home that happened back in June.  We wanted to bring the garden inside to this beautiful residence, along with a dusting of woodland magic.  The air was filled with garden mint, elderflower and dill along with the woody scents of freshly cut beech and birch.  Just lovely.

Our friend Lisa Devine was there on the day to capture the magic, thank you so much for these beautiful images.

Lizzie | The Dell of Abernethy | Autumn

24/01/2017

I have to confess, woodland weddings are my absolute favourite, especially in the Autumn.

Lizzie wandered deep into the woods at The Dell of Abernethy on a beautiful misty, Autumnal day to marry her beau and it was just magical.  We gathered all the crisp leaves, hedgerow berries and the darkest Rudbekia you ever did see to compliment the surroundings and our absolute favourites AMM Team were on hand to create Lizzies woodland look.  Love those ladies.

Thank you to The Kitcheners for these beautiful images once again, book them.

We are out and about this weekend at The Wedding Collective Market this Sunday at The Glue Factory, it would be super lovely to meet you and hear all about your botanical needs.

Jenni | Hopetoun House | July

12/01/2017

Another blog post petals!

Back in July we had our first wedding at the beautiful Hopetoun House, just outside Edinburgh.  Jenni asked us to create seasonal, scented flowers to match her colourful Bridesmaids dresses and we had so much fun with all the colours!  Packed full of scented garden herbs, the bouquets were a real treat for the senses.

We filled the Stables and the Ballroom with locally sourced foliages, brimming from tall glass vases and created a natural, tumbling arrangement on the grand fireplace.  Thanks to Jenni’s Dad for allowing us to prune his gardens on the morning of the wedding, what an unexpected treat!

Huge love to The Hendrys for these beautiful images.

Kate | Mansfield Traquair | October

11/01/2017

Hello 2017 flower lovers!

I hope you all had a super time over the festive period, and if you got engaged – congratulations!

2016 was a busy old year for us here at Myrtle & Bracken HQ and we have lots of lovely weddings to share with you over the coming weeks.  This year is looking really exciting so far and our minds are already filled with all sorts of flowery loveliness as we start to plan ahead.

Back in October, we had the pleasure of creating Kate’s wedding flowers at the beautiful Mansfield Traquair in Edinburgh.  Autumn was in full swing and we brought the outside in with seasonal berries, copper Beech and turned Oak leaf.  Just lovely.

The ever lovely Lisa Devine was on hand to capture the love, thank you so much for sharing these images with us.

Chelsea & Jac | An Elopement | Autumn

06/12/2016

I can’t tell you how MUCH I love elopements.  And when they look like this one, it is easy to see why.

We got an emergency request for flowers late one Friday afternoon in October from Chelsea, who had travelled from the States to elope with her beau the following day.  We gathered what was best from our cutting gardens, and Mr Myrtle & Bracken hopped through to Balfron the following morning to save the day.

Chelsea and Jac wandered deep into the woods of Loch Lomond National Park to exchange their vows in an emotional and atmospheric ceremony, all beautifully captured by Melissa Marshall.  Follow Melissa’s stunning work on Instagram and be sure to check out her signature hashtag #forthewildyinlove

Oh, and more veils please.

Lisa | Rowallan Castle | Spring

27/10/2016

Hello blog!

It has been a very, VERY long time.  Apologies, the flowers have been demanding all our attention this year, but we are not complaining when they have been as pretty as this lovely wedding back in the Spring that we are sharing with you today.

Lisa and her girl friends chose the best in the business to take care of hair and make up, Anne Marie McElroy and Julie Duplacito and they worked their magic in the beautiful Tour House.

It was then off to Rowallan Castle which we filled with highly scented seasonal Magnolia, Blossom and Viburnum and warmed the air with pillar candles in storm lanters.  Just lovely.

You can see more of this wedding on Love My Dress, with the dreamiest of images by our Wedding Collective chums Craig & Eva Sanders.

Kim | Cottiers

09/01/2016

Happy New Year you flowery bunch!  Hope you all had a lovely time over the festive period.  And a huge hello to all our new recently engaged ladies, welcome to our world.

A lot of our time has been spent over the past few weeks resting, reflecting and drinking Raspberry Gin.  It has been lovely.  But we are now strarting to look ahead at another flower filled year and planning what to grow in the cuttings gardens and what wonderful pieces we are going to create for some really beautiful weddings.

Today, we are looking back at Kim’s beautiful wedding which took place in August at Cottiers.  Kim themed her wedding around “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and the soft, romantic florals we created were supported by antlers, vines and local ferns.

A Wedding Collective dream team were on hand to help create Kim’s vision, with Anne Marie McElroy on hair, Julie Duplacito on make up and Craig & Eva Sanders behind the lens.

Ruth, Blairquhan Castle

17/11/2015

What a miserable, wet time we are all having at the moment!  Time to fire up the wood burner, pop some scones in the oven, and start to reflect what has been an incredible year of weddings for us here at Myrtle & Bracken.

We have clocked up over 17,000 miles travelling the length and breadth of the country, flowering up beautiful spaces along the way.  We have worked with some really lovely clients and we are so grateful to be invited to play a part in a really special time for them and their friends and families.  We have also been getting to grips with our first growing season for our cutting garden, and are really loving living and working in tandem with the seasons.  Although it has been wet.  Very wet!

So today we are thinking back to a hot sunny day in June, when Ruth and Paul had the loveliest romantic wedding at Blairquhan Castle.

Scented flowers were the order of the day, with home grown Stock, Sweet Peas, Oregano and Mint.  Add in some David Austin Juliet roses, and the castle was filled with the delicate garden scent of summer.  We loved draping the staircase in wildy romantic garlands, framing Ruths entrance to marry her beau.  Lovely.

Craig and Eva Sanders were there to capture all the romance, thank you so much for allowing us to share these dreamy images.

Sigh.
